The Company

ProSeed is an international seed investment company incorporated in Belgium. Founded by a team of graduates from top universities such as Harvard, Chicago, Leuven, Oxford and Tel-Aviv, ProSeed’s management team comes from various professional backgrounds including finance, technology, operational business, and law.

ProSeed targets acquisition of equity in unlisted high-growth startup companies at the seed level. Shareholder value is created by ProSeed’s participation as an investor in and supporter of pioneering technological innovation efforts in high-tech fields such as speech and chip technologies, the Internet, biotechnology, medical devices, and more. In doing so, ProSeed effectively serves as a screening mechanism and a “feeder” for its partners – investment institutions who tend to invest in later stages.

Investment Approach

ProSeed’s investment approach is unconventional in that, unlike most investment institutions, it considers no stage of a startup’s development to be too early for investment. While seed-stage investments carry significant risk, they typically involve, compared to later stages, a low price per share and relatively small capital investment. Most importantly, quality high-tech seed startups hold the promise of high risk-adjusted returns on investment.

In contrast to typical “angel” investors, ProSeed adds value to its portfolio companies that goes far beyond the actual capital investment. ProSeed uses its geographically and professionally diverse contacts to assist its portfolio companies in many ways including assistance in further fund-raising, recruitment for key positions, synergies with other portfolio companies and more.

In order to counter the high risk associated with seed level high-tech startups, ProSeed has developed a customized approach to screening, evaluating, investing in, and monitoring such companies. In addition, ProSeed diversifies in three main respects:

• by type of investment (core non-listed seed level startups, quoted companies)
• by geographic region (Europe, Israel, U.S., Canada, etc.)
• by type of technology sector (Internet-related, biotech and healthcare-related, etc.).
